The forbidden is desirable

By Dr Nermin Al-Houti

It is astonishing that some people close certain windows of thought and culture! What is even more astonishing is that such mindsets still exist today! It is indeed laughable that such mindsets still exist and that some of them censor ideas under the guise of morality. This is what is called “intellectual impotence”. We are in an era where we must give free rein to creativity, and the right of reply is also guaranteed in the name of freedom so that cultural giving can continue. What we block with a “decision” is multiplied many times over and of the same quality on the internet, which does not withhold anything from its visitors, no matter how great or small. A message to those who have nothing but intellectually incapable minds:

Let our skies rain down with their diverse cultures. Let ideas fly in the sky without surveillance and without restrictions. The world, gentlemen, is racing and experiencing a renewed information revolution. What we see in a minute changes in seconds at a terrifying speed, with constant additions and renewed ideas. The coming era, gentlemen, is one that threatens and manipulates unconscious minds. Rejecting or banning these cultures or ideas will not solve the problem, for they are raging and no force, no matter how powerful, will stand in their way. Thought, gentlemen, is freedom from within, and no human being, no matter how powerful, can prevent it. The opposite is true.

What is forbidden is always desirable, gentlemen, and the solution lies in opening all intellectual windows and confronting everything that affects religions and national security. We will find the solution in responding to those who deliberately spread false claims or ideas intended to cause harm. In this case, it will be like a powerful weapon that eradicates the idea from its roots and leaves an echo in society that causes it to be rejected from within.

Thought itself is an influential force that needs an equal counterforce, and the conflict between them will be for the common good, which awaits the winner. The task here will be easy if the educated generation is given the opportunity to respond rationally to any intellectual claims that the authorities deem dangerous or threatening to the country, directly or indirectly, without resorting to executive force.

Intellectual power is much stronger, because it will convince others if it prevails, unlike physical power, which will not satisfy many and will only lead to division, which will only further divide society. The world around us is renewing and innovating through culture and thought, which lead to sophistication, progress, and power in a world that knows no other language. So why do we fight against this language that the world has accepted as the foundation upon which it builds its glory and future?
